Choosing a Buyer’s Agent
When you’re ready to buy, it is highly recommended that you have an agent working by your side. Because the seller pays the agent’s commission, having an agent represent you doesn’t cost you a thing. Here are some tips for choosing a buyer’s agent.
You can contact realtors by phone or e-mail. Try to find someone you feel comfortable with. Can you communicate with them? How responsive are they? Are they familiar with the area you are interested in?
Talk with your friends and neighbors. Who did they use? Was the agent knowledgeable and responsive?
No matter how you choose a buyer’s agent, make sure he or she listens to your wants, needs and concerns. In addition, make sure he or she knows their stuff:
- how long have they been in real estate?
- How do they keep current on the market trends?
- Does he or she provide any other resources or help with your house hunt?
- In the end, what is most important is that your find a buyer’s agent you connect with and that you trust.
